Robin - Ch'tite Bulle 2009

I'll just begin this by saying that I've been a fan of Guile's for a quite while now, and hopefully this critique won't be viewed as biased. But this is an excellently rendered piece of two timeless characters. The design is what immediately drew me to this piece, the triangle composition is a classic one that almost always works, and this piece is no different. My eye was drawn to the foreshortened hand coming directly at us and then moves down the figure's dynamic pose (a must for a gymnast such as Dick Grayson) and rests on the shadow of the Bat. This also serves as a nice nod to the Batman canon and the feelings that Dick Grayson as Robin has always felt about being in the shadow of his mentor. From there we move up the right side of the image, thanks to a smartly placed wire and are back where we began at this magnificent piece just in time to gaze at it one more time.
